I doubt the DNC paid a dime
I doubt the DNC paid a dime to use that stuff. MS probably went to them, offered them their services for free and the software, just to force people on the user side to have to be using MS products.
I'm sure that's exactly what
I'm sure that's exactly what happened. However, I think I'm well within my right to bitch considering that to implement open standards that would work with any operating system wouldn't necessarily cost money either. Open source being free and all, and it probably wouldn't be difficult to find free labor to set up the stuff either.
Look at the larger picture
Look at the larger picture and market share. Linux does not hold a high consumer market share (Ignore the numbers for server usage), thus, support for it will be very low.
Getting frustrated about it doesn't do much other than raise your blood pressure, it doesn't bother them.

My point is that it wouldn't have been any more difficult, nor would have necessarily cost any more money to have supported every operating system than it would have to implement the closed system they implemented.
